Final: Khimky - CSKA 66-64

Khimky are crowned new VTB League champions. They overcame CSKA in the dramatic Final in Kazan tonight. Kresimir Loncar (210-F-83, agency: Alti Sport) stepped up with 18 points to lead the winners. Travis Hansen and Thomas Kelati (195-G/F-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Washington St.) knocked down five free throws in the dying seconds of the game to seal the victory for Khimky. Thomas Kelati helped Khimky to a 9:2 start. CSKA struggled offensively in the opening frame. They scored just six points to face an 11-point deficit at the first intermission. Kresimir Loncar stretched the margin to 13 points early in the second term. But CSKA went on a 17:2 to steal the lead. Travis Hansen and Monya regained the advantage for Khimky as they established a 33:27 halftime buffer. The lead changed hands for several times throughout intense third term. CSKA eked out a narrow 47:46 lead at the final break. Kresimir Loncar and Planinic came up with key six points midway through the final stanza as Khimky posted a 58:53 lead. Siskauskas dragged CSKA within one but accurate free throws in the final seconds brought Khimky to the triumph. Thomas Kelati chipped in 15 points, while Vitaly Fridzon (195-G-85) added 11 points and 7 boards for the winners. J.R. Holden (185-G-76, college: Bucknell) and Jamont Gordon (193-G/F-87, college: Mississippi St.) answered with 15 points each for CSKA.

3rd Place: Azovmash - Unics 75-95
Unics clinched third place at VTB League as they edged Ukrainian side. The home side of Final Four overcame Azovmash 95:75 It was an easy start for Unics that shocked the opponents 27-9 in the opening quarter. Ramel Curry (191-G-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) performed a three-pointer in the start of the second period to reduce to 27:12, while Drago Pasalic (208-C/F-84) scored for 34:17. Ricky Minard (194-G/F-82, college: Morehead St.) and Popovis made free throws for 41:17 and Pierre Pierce (193-G-83, agency: Lanshire Group, college: Iowa) closed the half 54:35 as Unics won the quarter 27-26. The second half was completely different in the game. Both teams paid more attention to defense and as a result they scored 23 points for both of them in the third period. Azovmash produced 12-11 to cut it to 54:35 as Pierre Pierce nailed three at the end of it. Drago Pasalic scored four in a row for 57:40, while Mccarty made it 62:52. Pierre Pierce reduced to 67:50 after another successful three-pointer, but Rizvic made the final score in the third period. Unics also added 27-23 in the last stanza to clinch the third place. Samoylenko was the last to score in the game for the final result. Ricky Minard stepped up with 24 points for the winners and Marko Popovic (185-G-82, college: S.Idaho JC) added 22. Kelly McCarty (201-F-75, agency: Avi Zilberman, college: S.Mississippi) and Vladimir Veremeenko (208-F-84, agency: RU-Basket Management) followed them with 15 points each in a win. Drago Pasalic,Thomas and Pierre Pierce ended up with 15 points in the losing effort and Ramel Curry scored 11.
